Spot the Trap
Spot the Trap
A short challenge. One decision worth practising.
A recruiter offers easy work. A caller says your savings are at risk. A website asks you to prove you are human.
Each situation asks for a decision. Spot the Trap gives people a place to practise that decision before it involves their own money or computer.
Read a made-up message, choose what you would do next, and see the details worth noticing. Each round takes about two minutes. There is no timer and no score to chase.
Challenges
- 1. The job that asks for a deposit
An unexpected chat message offers online work. You decide to hear more. Later, after completing a set of tasks, the recruiter sends another message. - 2. The call about a “safe account”
A caller says they work for your bank. Your phone displays the bank's name. During the call, this message arrives. - 3. The human check that asks you to run something
You follow a link to a document. Before it opens, a page displays these instructions. - 4. The job offer with a link to sign in
You have been applying for jobs online. An email arrives from a recruiter you do not recognise.
How to play
- Pick a challenge and read the situation.
- Choose your next step.
- Select “See the explanation.”
- Read the feedback and the numbered details.
- Take away one useful rule. Share the challenge if someone you know might find it helpful.
Some examples contain a clear scam request. Others look ordinary and need checking. You do not have to identify a fraudster from a message alone; you can choose a sensible next step while something remains uncertain.
Your selected answer stays on this page. It is not included in a shared link or card. You do not need an account. See the privacy page for information about hosting and request metadata.
Have a real message you are worried about? The message checker can look for specific warning patterns. It cannot confirm the sender or guarantee that a request is genuine.
